Tuesday, Alexis Ohanian tweeted, “Welcome, Adira River Ohanian,” along with images of their growing family.
The second child of tennis legend Serena Williams is a girl, her husband shared on social media.
“Welcome, Adira River Ohanian,” Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian said on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday afternoon.

I’m delighted to announce that our home is filled with love, including a happy and healthy newborn daughter and a happy and healthy mother. Thankful,” he continued.
He lauded Williams, 41, saying, “You’ve now given me another incomparable gift — you’re the GMOAT,” which stands for “Greatest mother of all time.”
He posted pictures of Williams, Ohanian, and Olympia, their 5-year-old daughter, beaming while holding their newborn.
I’ll never forget the time I introduced @olympiaohanian to her newborn sister, thanks to all the wonderful hospital staff who cared for my wife and our daughter, he wrote.
He ended by quoting an Isaiah passage that said, “Your peace would have been like a river, and your well-being like the waves of the sea.”
Williams declared in a Vogue essay published in August of last year that Serena Williams would give up tennis to concentrate on starting a family.

Williams stated, “I have never liked the word retirement. “Evolution might be the best word to describe what I’m doing,” he said.
These days, she continued, “if I have to pick between building my family and building my tennis resume, I prefer the latter.
Williams also spoke openly about the health issues she was experiencing after giving birth to Olympia in 2017.
Her legs were numb the day after she gave birth to Olympia via cesarean section, and she worried that she was experiencing a pulmonary embolism, a potentially dangerous blood clot in the lungs, in an essay for Elle.
She claimed in the post that she discovered she had pulmonary blood clots in 2010 and that ever then, “I’ve lived in fear of their returning. I have a significant risk of blood clots, therefore it wasn’t an isolated incident.
The hospital personnel was informed, but she said that “no one was really listening to what I was saying.”

She claimed that after much nagging, a nurse finally called Williams’ doctor, who agreed to check things out. It was then discovered that Williams had many blood clots and required multiple procedures.
Williams pointed out that compared to white individuals, black people in the U.S. have a nearly threefold higher risk of dying during or shortly after childbirth.

Experts believe that many of these fatalities could have been avoided, Williams stated. “For me, getting heard and receiving the right care meant the difference between life and death; I know those statistics would be different if the medical establishment paid attention to every Black woman’s experience.”
